Families Schurter and Vargo document their gastronomic adventures one good meal at a time. We are forever calling and emailing for recipes or to talk about great foodie finds, so we decided this would be a great forum for sharing.

The rain is killing our crop. It was dry and the skins tight. With all the water, Everything is bursting. I have not been out to check since the rain subsided. We picked during the rain so I could make sauce. Ran out of jars.
Yeah, I think ours is done. We still had lots of little green ones and even some new flowers, but I think all the rain and the cool (40-45 degree) nights have put a kabash on it.
Last bit of the crop (when we picked Sunday) produced 10 pints of sauce and 12 pints of salsa. Second batch of salsa is a bit spicier than first. Picked couple last night for tomato pie and they were at the end. Very few were left that will ripen into anything.
